The strongest "Why This School" essays follow a simple structure for each point they make.

Your Goal: What you want to learn, do, or become. Their Resource: The specific program, track, faculty member, clinical site, or curriculum feature that supports that goal. Specific Impact: What you'd do with it. How it changes your training or career trajectory.

Example Using the Formula

Weak: "I'm interested in your research opportunities."

Strong: "My undergraduate work in Dr. Chen's oncology lab focused on tumor microenvironment signaling, and I want to continue translational research during medical school. The weak version could apply to any school. The strong version can only apply to one.
